The pickup truck segment is one of the most competitive in the automotive industry. That is why it is so important to stand out. We are going to compare the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 to the 2020 Ford F-150 so you can see why the Silverado is the superior choice.

Towing

If you plan to do any serious towing with your new truck, you will want the best truck you can get. The Silverado 1500, when properly equipped, offers best-in-class V8 towing at up to 13,400 pounds. The most the F-150 can tow is 13,200 pounds.

Fuel Economy

On the other hand, if you care more about the efficiency of your truck, the Silverado 1500 is once again, the truck you need. When equipped with the available Duramax® 3.0-liter Turbo-Diesel engine, it delivers an EPA-estimated 23 mpg in the city and 33 mpg on the highway, which is better than any other truck in the segment.* When equipped with the 3.0-liter Power Stroke® Turbo Diesel engine, the F-150 offers less mileage — 21 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway, to be exact.

Bed Versatility

One of the most important parts of any truck is its bed. When you choose the Silverado 1500, it comes standard with a Durabed, which delivers best-in-class cargo volume in all three bed sizes. It also comes standard with 12 cargo tie downs. You can also choose the industry-first available power-up/-down tailgate. With the F-150, it is available with three bed sizes, but you won’t get as much cargo volume or as many standard tie-downs.

Camera Technology

One of the greatest modern additions to the automotive industry is camera technology. While all new vehicles come standard with a rearview camera now, the Silverado 1500 is available with an industry-best 15 camera views, including a “transparent trailer” view that lets you virtually “see through” your trailer. The F-150 does offer a variety of camera views, but not nearly as many as the Silverado.
